Lions, and Tigers, and Bears...

"Oh my!"

We decided (Emily decided) to take a trip to the Zoology Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The main attraction at the museum is a wooly mammoth that was found frozen in Siberia. The collection consists of stuffed animals of every genus. Most of them are not in habitat exhibits like the Natural History Museum in New York, but are just stuffed and on display in poorly lit glass boxes. Still, it wasn't too expensive, and it was very interesting.

Lions, and tigers, and bears...

They had an absolutely ridiculous number of birds on display. This is one of about 20 or 30 sections of birds.

This is possibly the saddest display in Russia.

Grrr. We had a little fun.

Emily says in a falsetto voice, "Bambiiii!"

This little guy (baby wooly mammoth) is 37,000-ish-years-old.

The main attraction.

Snap, snap. This crab was huge.

They also had a huge insect exhibit that freaked Emily out. This was one of the only pictures she could take, because she doesn't mind butterflies. Everything else was just "gross" or "creepy."

This is a blue whale skeleton. They even had the harpoons used to kill them on display off to the side.
