Zaya's Hostel - UlanBaatar, Mongolia

Zaya's Hostel is in a very good location in UlanBaatar, and I would highly recommend staying there. The UlanBaatar Department Store is nearly directly in front of the hostel, and the State Department Store is about a 10 minute walk away. Seoul Street, which is where the majority of bars and restaurants are located, is also just a few minutes away. If you are looking for a big party, Zaya's Hostel is not the place for you. If you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere, with just a few rules (such as, take your shoes off at the door and put slippers on), then it's great. Zaya has been running the hostel for between 10 and 12 years, so she knows most of the better guides for tours. She directly called our driver, and he was wonderful. Zaya and the rest of the staff also speak English quite well, so we encountered no problems there. Breakfast is provided, but it is usually toast with jam, peanut butter, or Nutella. While we were there, Zaya's hostel played host to guests ranging from tourists staying 1 week to students staying for 4 months. Overall, we had a great time, and want to return.
